Best for: A safe first plugin that you'll use every day.

Watch out for: The security scan gives it a "caution" verdict, and the README explains that test files trigger it, so you confirm the install in the terminal.

Verdict: It's the best first plugin in the catalog, and I score it 9.0.

2. Hermes Tailscale

Hermes Tailscale puts your Tailscale devices on a page in Hermes Desktop.

You can see which machines are online, copy an address, open SSH, send a file with Taildrop and publish this Hermes to your tailnet.

It talks to the Tailscale CLI you already have, with no admin API token and no cloud round trip.

The listing shows 56 stars, version 0.0.6 and an update on 4 October 2026.

Best for: Anyone running Hermes across a laptop, a desktop and a phone.

Watch out for: It needs Tailscale installed and logged in, and the version number tells you it's still early.

Verdict: It's the best plugin for reach, and I score it 8.5.

3. Hermes Speech

Hermes Speech adds text-to-speech and speech-to-text to Hermes through AllModels.

The listing says one AllModels API key gives access to more than 80 speech models.

It adds two tools for setup and management, and you can search and preview voices before you choose.

It shows 199 stars and version 0.3.3, and it needs Hermes Agent 0.20.0 or later.

Best for: Turning Hermes into a voice assistant.

Watch out for: Speech runs through a third-party service with its own key, so check what that costs you.

Verdict: It's the best voice plugin by stars, and I score it 8.5.

4. Claude Subscription DirectSDK

This is an official plugin from Nous Research, and it's the one I use for my Claude-powered Hermes profile.

It runs Hermes turns on a Claude Pro or Max subscription through the official Claude Code CLI.

The listing says that means no separate API key and no per-token bill, and it also says every turn is billed against your subscription's allowance.

It shows 116 stars and version 0.3.3, and it's labelled experimental.

Best for: People who already pay for Claude.

Watch out for: It needs Hermes Agent 0.21.4 or newer and the Claude Code CLI installed and logged in.

Verdict: It's the best model plugin if you have a Claude plan, and I score it 8.3.

Hermes Office gives your Bot Mode agents a shared room in Hermes Desktop.

Watch out for: It solves one specific problem, so skip it if you aren't job hunting.

Hermes Memory Wiki is an official plugin that adds a Memory Wiki tab to the dashboard.

Watch out for: It's a viewer, so editing memory still happens through the memory tool.

This community plugin connects a WhatsApp Agent to Hermes through Meta's WhatsApp Agent Platform API.

Honourable Mentions That Just Missed The Top 10

These plugins are worth knowing about, even though they didn't make my ten.

I showed Brave Search and Ollama Cloud web search in the video, and they're good small plugins if you already have the key.

Why You Shouldn't Just Sort By Most Starred

The catalog has a "Most starred" sort, and it's tempting to install whatever sits at the top.

I looked at that list closely, and there's a catch.

The star count appears to be the GitHub repository's stars.

A plugin that lives inside a large project's repository shows that project's stars, which is why Mem0 shows 67k and Hindsight shows 48k.

Those are real and popular memory projects, but the number tells you about the project and not about the Hermes plugin on its own.

So I compare stars inside one category, where the comparison is fair.

That's how Hermes Speech at 199 clearly leads the other voice plugins.

Official Versus Community Hermes Plugins

When I counted on 10 October 2026, the catalog had 532 plugin pages.

Only 10 of them were official plugins from Nous Research.

The Safety Check: Read The Repo Before You Install

This is the one thing I asked everyone to do in the video.

Most plugins are written by independent developers, so a plugin could do something you don't want.

• Read the README and make sure the plugin does what you expect.
• Read the "Disclosure" line on the listing, where many authors state what the plugin reads or runs.
• Check the keys it asks for and where your data goes.
• Check the last update date.

The installer backs you up with a security scan.

A plugin with a "dangerous" verdict can't be installed at all, and a "caution" verdict asks you to confirm in the terminal.

Don't Install Everything On The List

Ten plugins on a list doesn't mean ten plugins on your machine.

Every plugin is more for Hermes to load, and plugins that add tools give your model more to juggle.
