Muse vs Instinct is the personal-agent fight of the autumn, and my verdict is that Meta Muse wins it today.
I scored the two across seven rounds, and Muse took five of them.
It wins on access, price, safety design, integrations and transparency about its brain.
Instinct wins on interface, because texting or ringing an assistant is still the most natural way to hand off a job.
It also wins on momentum, with a $10 billion valuation and more than 100,000 users before it has even opened to the public.
But momentum is not the same as a product you can safely use today.
That is why Muse gets my verdict.
Before the rounds, here is how I built this verdict.
I have not used either agent on my own accounts, so this is a researched comparison, not a hands-on review.
Every fact below comes from launch coverage by TechCrunch, Axios and PYMNTS, Instinct's own website, and independent reviews of both products.
The one part I have tested myself is Meta's Muse Spark model family, which I benchmarked on 50 real builds.
The Short Verdict On Muse vs Instinct
Meta Muse is the winner for anyone who wants a personal agent working this week.
Instinct is the one to watch, and the one to lock down hard if you get an invite.
If phone calls are the main thing you want an agent to handle, Instinct is the only one of the two built around them.
For everything else, Muse is easier to get, easier to budget for and easier to trust.
Muse vs Instinct Scorecard
| Round | Meta Muse | Instinct | Winner |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Access | Open to US adults aged 18 and over | Invite-only private beta | Muse |
| 2. Price | Free, $20 a month Power, $100 a month top tier | No published price | Muse |
| 3. The brain | Meta's own Muse Spark model | Model not named | Muse |
| 4. Interface | App, web and WhatsApp chat | Text it or call it, with no new app | Instinct |
| 5. Safety design | Secure VM, Sentinel, separate credential store, optional approvals | Sandboxes and a Vault, but broad terms and reported incidents | Muse |
| 6. Integrations | Email, calendars, payments and lifestyle apps, with Stripe Link checkout | Email, Google Workspace, messaging, screen, audio and location, with Shopify checkout | Muse |
| 7. Momentum | Meta's reach and WhatsApp distribution | 100,000+ users and a $10 billion valuation | Instinct |
That is five rounds to Muse and two to Instinct.
Now let me show you how each round was decided.
Round 1: Access Goes To Muse
Meta launched Muse on 8 September 2026 for users in the US, according to TechCrunch.
You can use it on iOS, Android, the web at muse.ai, and through chats in WhatsApp.
Meta has said its AI glasses will get support later.
Instinct is still in a private, invite-only beta while it scales its computing infrastructure.
You either get an invite or a trusted-network link from an existing user, which works as a referral.
An agent you can download tonight beats an agent you have to queue for, so Muse takes the round.
Round 2: Price Goes To Muse
Muse has three clear tiers.
There is a free tier with usage limits, a $20 a month Power plan, and a $100 a month top tier.
Meta says most people will stay on the free tier, and the app shows a meter with the percentage of your usage left.
Instinct has not published any price.
Independent reviews of its terms say users may be required to pay fees, that pricing can change at any time, and that payments are non-refundable.
A known price always beats an unknown one, so this round goes to Muse.
Round 3: The Brain Goes To Muse
Muse runs on Meta's own Muse Spark model.
Axios covered Meta releasing Muse Spark 1.3 on 2 September 2026, and reviewers say that is the version under the agent.
This is the one area I can speak to from my own testing.
When Meta released Muse Code on 5 August 2026, I ran Muse Spark 1.2 through 50 real builds on GoldieBench, and it now averages 7.55 on the live leaderboard.
It was outstanding at app interfaces and weaker at 3D worlds.
Instinct does not say which model it runs, and its privacy policy only mentions third-party AI model providers.
I am not saying Instinct's brain is worse.
I am saying I cannot judge a brain nobody will name, so transparency wins the round for Muse.
If you want to see how frontier models stack up against each other, my Claude Opus 5 vs GPT-5.6 verdict uses the same 50-build method.
Round 4: Interface Goes To Instinct
This is where Instinct shines.
Its website says there are no new interfaces, because you simply text Instinct or call it.
It is trained to use a phone and a computer in the same way people do.
That makes it feel like a real assistant rather than another app on your home screen.
Muse is close behind, because it lives inside WhatsApp as well as its own app.
But being able to ring your agent is a genuine edge, and I could not find phone calling listed as a Muse launch feature in the coverage I read.
Instinct takes the round.
Round 5: Safety Design Goes To Muse
This is the most important round, and it is not close.
How Muse is built
Muse works inside Muse Secure VM, which TechCrunch describes as a dedicated, secure computer with its own browser.
Meta says a separate system called Sentinel evaluates network access and connector actions.
Credentials are stored outside the main agent's reach, and the email connector filters out one-time codes and password-reset links.
You can require approval before Muse sends email or spends money.
Purchases go through Link by Stripe one-time card numbers.
Reviewers also report a confidential VM mode planned for later in 2026.
How Instinct is built
Instinct says it uses isolated sandboxes, short-lived credentials and a Vault for passwords.
But TechCrunch reported that its terms grant a perpetual and irrevocable licence over user materials, including for model training.
The same report says the terms let Instinct enter agreements, commitments or transactions on your behalf that become binding.
TechCrunch also reported beta users seeing email data stored in plain text after disconnecting, signup codes pulled from inboxes without explicit approval, and emails sent without prior authorisation.
Independent reviews add that training is on by default, with an opt-out that only works going forward.
Muse wins this round clearly.
Round 6: Integrations Go To Muse, Narrowly
TechCrunch says Muse connects to email, calendars, payments, and apps for health and fitness, the smart home, dining, shopping, music and events.
Reviewers list Gmail and Google Calendar among the launch connectors.
Checkout runs through Link by Stripe, and Shop Pay and 1Password are listed as coming soon.
Instinct connects to email, messaging, screen, audio and location, and independent reviews say it covers Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Calendar, Drive and Docs.
It also partnered with Shopify on product search and Shop Pay checkout.
Both lists are strong.
I give Muse the narrow win because every connector sits behind the approval and Sentinel layers from Round 5.
Round 7: Momentum Goes To Instinct
Instinct's growth is wild.
PYMNTS reported it passed 100,000 users by mid-September 2026.
It raised $250 million at a $2.5 billion valuation in August, then $1 billion at a $10 billion valuation on 28 September 2026.
PYMNTS named Sequoia, Benchmark and Coatue as Series C investors.
It has also added Instinct Concierge, a white-glove service, and a Trusted Person Network that lets assistants coordinate with each other.
Muse has Meta's distribution behind it, but Instinct has the buzz, so it takes the round.

Who Should Pick Which
Pick Meta Muse if you are in the US and want a personal agent running this week.
Pick Muse if you want a clear price and the option to approve every payment and email.
Pick Instinct if you already have an invite and your main jobs are phone calls and quick texted errands.
Pick neither for client or company work, because both are personal agents and reviewers say Muse is not designed for business support work.
What Would Flip This Verdict
Three things would make me rerun this comparison.
The first is Instinct publishing a price and opening to the public.
The second is Instinct naming its model and tightening its terms on licences and binding agreements.
The third is Muse adding phone calls, which would take away Instinct's biggest single advantage.
I will update the verdict when any of those happen.
The Other Fight You Should Read
Muse has a second rival that matters just as much.

Muse vs Instinct FAQ
Is Meta Muse better than Instinct?
For most people today, yes, because Muse is open to US adults with a free tier and clearer safety layers.
Instinct is more natural to talk to, but it is invite-only with no published price.
What is Instinct AI?
Instinct is a personal AI agent from Spear Street Technology, founded by Noah Shinn.
You text it or call it, and it handles errands like rides, email, calendars, shopping and subscriptions.
What model does Meta Muse use?
Muse runs on Meta's Muse Spark model, with the 1.3 update covered by Axios on 2 September 2026.
Instinct has not named its model.
Is Instinct safe to use?
Use it carefully, because TechCrunch reported several incidents from beta users and its terms are broad.
Start with no connectors, opt out of training and keep work accounts out.
Can I use Meta Muse outside the US?
Not yet, because Muse launched for US users aged 18 and over.
Support for Meta's AI glasses is listed as coming later.
My Final Verdict
Muse wins five of seven rounds and is the personal agent I would recommend today.
Instinct wins on interface and momentum, and it could close the gap fast if it fixes its terms and publishes a price.
Until then, Meta Muse is my pick in Muse vs Instinct.
