Grok Bot Android earns a 7.3 out of 10 from me: an excellent remote for approving and steering Bots, held back by a text-only share sheet and fewer phone integrations than the iPhone build.
That score is my editorial judgement from xAI's own documentation, mainly the Grok Bot mobile page, the FAQ and the Grok Bot changelog.
No benchmark was run for this verdict; every point traces to a documented feature or limit.
The app needs Android 9 or later and installs from Google Play.

The scorecard
Eight criteria, each rated out of 10, each with the doc that justifies it.
| Criterion | Rating | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Device support | 9/10 | Runs on Android 9 or later, installed from Google Play (deployment table) |
| Sync with desktop | 10/10 | Same Bots, chats, routines, connectors and cloud computer (mobile docs) |
| Approvals on the go | 9/10 | Tap a card for the full request; Allow once, Always allow, Deny (approvals page) |
| Notifications | 7/10 | Two switches plus a desktop handoff rule; no quiet-while-at-desk option (settings page) |
| Phone app access | 6/10 | Calendar, Contacts, Location, Alarms only; Reminders and Home are iPhone only |
| Sharing into chats | 4/10 | Android share sheet accepts text only for now (mobile docs) |
| Billing clarity | 7/10 | Google Play handles it; easy to double-subscribe if you tap the paywall by mistake |
| Desktop independence | 6/10 | Teaching, routine tests and computer updates still need desktop (Get Started) |
The average of those eight lines is 7.25, which I round to 7.3.
What Grok Bot Android is, in one line
It's the phone client for Grok Bot, not a separate assistant.
The Bots work on a shared cloud computer, and the phone connects to the same Bots, conversations, routines and connectors as the desktop app.
Closing the app doesn't stop a background turn or a routine, per the FAQ.
Strength 1: approvals that actually work on a phone screen
This is the reason to install it.
Approval cards land in the chat, and tapping one opens the full request with every button.
Allow once does the action without saving a rule; Always allow saves an Allow rule to Custom Rules; Deny stops it until your next message.
Cards started from a chat message wait for you with no timer, says the approvals and security page.
Auto Review and Custom Rules are both editable from the Bot group of Android's Settings screen, so you're not stuck waiting for a laptop to change a rule.
Strength 2: real sync, not a lite mode
Most mobile companions trim features hard.
This one lets you watch the cloud computer live, take over for a password, two-factor code or CAPTCHA, and hand back with I'm done.
You can manage routines, search across messages, files and routines, open pages, and use each Bot's Library.
Settings covers plugins, Auto Review, time zone, Import Memory, a computer reset from snapshot, and usage.
Strength 3: voice and dictation built in
Start dictation and Start voice chat both work on Android.
Bots can also send a voice memo you play in the transcript.
For briefing a Bot while walking, that matters more than any setting.

Limit 1: the share sheet is text only
On iPhone you can share a photo, file, link or text from another app into a chat.
On Android, the share sheet currently accepts text.
That's the lowest score on my card, because sending a screenshot from your gallery means opening Grok Bot and attaching it there.
Limit 2: fewer phone integrations than iPhone
Android gets four phone apps for Bots: Calendar, Contacts, Location and Alarms.
iPhone adds Reminders and Apple Home on top.
Siri shortcuts, the Action Button and Live Activities are iPhone only too.
The four Android integrations are also narrow by design.
Contacts are read only, location is a raw position rather than an address, and alarms can't be listed or cancelled.
Alarms and timers are handed to the Clock app, which doesn't confirm them, so the Bot asks you to check.
Limit 3: notifications take some learning
Two things must both allow a notification: Android's permission and the Bot's own switch.
While the desktop app is in use on macOS or Windows, alerts from your Bots go there instead of the phone.
A Bot that needs input then reaches the phone after about 3 minutes, a change logged in v0.71.2 of the changelog.
There's no setting to keep the phone quiet only while the desktop app is open, per the settings and notifications docs.
It works, but it isn't obvious on day one.
The fix is per Bot: mute the noisy ones from their profile and leave approval-heavy Bots on.
One more quirk from v0.75.8: when a Bot posts to Slack on your behalf, your phone isn't notified.
That's sensible noise control, though it means a routine's Slack post won't buzz you.
Limit 4: some jobs still need a desktop
Teaching a workflow by demonstration, testing routines and updating the computer are all desktop jobs, per the Get Started guide.
Recovering a cloud computer that won't connect is also a desktop task.
Renaming a page is desktop only for now.
The billing verdict: clean, with one trap
If your Cursor account already includes Grok Bot, access carries over, and xAI says not to buy a second subscription through Google Play.
The trap is that the paywall is right there in the app.
A legacy Cursor plan and a SuperGrok link don't add together, so doubling up buys you nothing.
If you do subscribe in the app
The in-app store sells monthly individual plans only, and Android has no in-app trial.
Google Play then owns the subscription: manage it under Payments & subscriptions โ Subscriptions and send refund requests to Google Play.
Plans with Grok Bot on The X Subscription are Premium, Super and Ultra; Plus doesn't include it, per the X Subscription Grok Bot page.
Sign-in: simple, with one permanent decision
Sign-in runs through the browser with your Cursor account, using the shared xAI path, so there's no separate Grok Bot password.
The sign-in article notes the page may carry Grok or xAI branding, and that logging in doesn't merge accounts or change plans.
SuperGrok and X Premium+ holders get a Link Grok Account step on the access screen.
That link is permanent and you can't move it yourself, which is the one choice here worth slowing down for.
Multiple accounts are supported: Settings โ Switch Account โ Add Account, and swipe an inactive one to remove it.
I rate sign-in well, but I didn't give it its own line because the risk sits in linking, not logging in.
The permission model is careful, which I like
Bots can only touch phone apps in your own chat with a Bot you own.
Group chats, Slack and other people's shared Bots are excluded.
Each app is granted through Settings โ Connect apps, with clear Allow, Allowed and Denied states.
A first-time request shows a Grok Bot needs permission card that waits up to five minutes.
If your company sets a limit, each phone's page lists it under Tools on this device: ask every time, never allow, or always allow.
The Bot also can't use your phone at all while the app is closed or in the background.
That's restrictive, but for a tool that can edit your calendar it's the right default.
Finding old work on a phone
Search on the home screen covers Messages, Bots, Group Chats, Files and Routines, or All at once.
Every Bot has a Library that lists pages, images, videos, files and links, newest first.
A page you own shows Private, Team or Public on its row, and a long press gives Open, Share, Copy Link and Open in Web.
For a phone client, that retrieval is better than I expected.
Updates and support from the phone
App updates come from Google Play; when a newer version is required, Update Grok Bot sends you there, per the troubleshooting guide.
The cloud computer has its own updates, and those run from desktop.
Send Feedback in Settings reports a problem straight from the phone.
The phone app offers 12 languages against 37 on desktop, says the FAQ.
How it compares with the desktop apps
Desktop is where you build, teach and maintain.
Android is where you approve, nudge and check.
If you mainly work on a Mac, the Grok Bot Mac verdict covers that side, and the two apps share one account and one usage pool.
Teams can deploy the Android app through managed Google Play, which the deployment docs confirm works with Intune.

Who should install it, and who should skip it
Install it if you are
- Anyone on Premium, Super or Ultra who wants to approve Bot actions away from a desk
- Owners running routines that raise approval cards, which expire after 30 minutes if no one answers
- Teams with managed Android phones who want staff to answer their own Bot cards
- People who brief Bots by voice while moving
Skip it if you are
- Anyone on the Plus plan, which doesn't include Grok Bot
- People who need to share files from other Android apps into a chat all day
- Anyone whose main use is teaching workflows by demonstration
- Users who want Reminders or smart-home control from their Bot; that's iPhone territory
Final verdict
Grok Bot Android is a 7.3/10 companion app and close to a must-install if you already pay for Grok Bot.
It does the one job a phone should do for an agent, which is getting your yes or no in quickly.
It loses points on sharing and integrations, not on reliability or sync.
Install it from Google Play, sign in with your existing account, and don't touch the paywall.

FAQ: Grok Bot Android Verdict
Is Grok Bot Android as good as the iPhone app?
For approvals and sync they match. iPhone adds Reminders, Apple Home, Siri shortcuts and a share sheet that takes files, so it scores higher on integrations.
What is the weakest part of Grok Bot Android?
The share sheet currently accepts text only, so photos and files have to be attached from inside the app.
Is Grok Bot Android worth it on the Plus plan?
No. Plus does not include Grok Bot. You need Premium, Super or Ultra on The X Subscription, or an eligible legacy plan.
Did you benchmark the Android app?
No benchmarks were run. The ratings are editorial judgements built from the official Grok Bot docs and changelog.
Can I replace my desktop with Grok Bot Android?
Not fully. Teaching workflows, testing routines and updating or recovering the cloud computer still need the desktop app.
