The Hermes Agent 3D model workflow earns an 8.2 out of 10 from me: generation and file handling are excellent, while Blender clean-up and unattended runs still need care.
This verdict scores the whole route a searcher takes to get a model out of Hermes, not just the plugin that powers it.
Every rating below is my editorial judgement from the official docs, with the reason stated next to it, and no benchmarks were run for this page.

The Scorecard: Hermes 3D Workflow Rated Stage By Stage
| Stage | Score /10 | Reason from the docs |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | 8 | Two plugin commands plus one key, but Node.js 18+ is required |
| Prompt to model | 9 | Text, single-image, multi-image and concept-image routes all built in |
| Spend control | 9 | Per-call approvals plus a 200-credit cap per chat |
| Formats and files | 9 | GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL and USDZ from one refined job, free to download |
| In-place fixes | 8 | Remesh, retexture, resize, UV unwrap and convert without leaving chat |
| Characters | 8 | Rigging, animation and text-to-motion, with a preview video in chat apps |
| 3D print prep | 9 | Check, repair, multicolor 3MF, split into parts, slicer handoff |
| Blender clean-up | 7 | Official plugin works, but the scope verified is headless only |
| Unattended runs | 7 | Safe by default, yet paid calls refuse until you change approvals |
Average across nine stages: 8.2, and the stages hand off to each other cleanly, which is rare for 3D.
What This Workflow Actually Is
Hermes doesn't model anything itself. It drives Meshy through the official Meshy plugin in the hermes-official-plugins repo.
The catalog entry lists it at v0.5.0, by NousResearch, updated 24 October 2026, for Windows, macOS and Linux.
It runs Meshy's own MCP server, pinned at 0.6.5, and ships a workflow skill called meshy-3d.
Meshy only sees what the server sends: your prompts, any images you point it at by path or URL, and the models themselves.
The server adds no analytics of its own, which matters for client work.
For the editing end, Hermes pairs with the official Blender plugin and the Blender Lab MCP server.
If you want our scored breakdown of the plugin alone, read the Hermes Meshy review; this page judges the end-to-end job.
Setup Verdict: 8/10
Installing is two commands, hermes plugins install meshy and hermes plugins enable meshy.
The key goes in through Desktop settings or hermes config set MESHY_API_KEY, and it's stored in .env.
The point I take off: you need Node.js 18+ with npx, plus a paid Meshy plan, since the README says any paid plan can create a key.
Neither is hard, but neither is zero.
The first start is slower too, because it downloads the pinned server package into npm's cache.
On the plus side, the 28 Meshy tools load on demand through Hermes' tool search, so they cost nothing in the prompt until a 3D job actually uses them.
The catalog sets the floor at Hermes 0.22.3, which most current installs already clear.
Prompt-To-Model Verdict: 9/10
This is the strongest part of the chain.
Six generation tools cover nearly every starting point: plain text, text plus a refine pass, one photo, several photos, a 2D concept image, and image-to-image edits.
The skill tells the agent to settle the output format first, which saves a wasted generation.
A default_detail setting takes game, mobile or detailed, or asks each time.
The README's own starter prompts show the pattern: "Make a low-poly treasure chest for Godot" names object, style and destination in seven words.
The concept-image route deserves credit as well, because you approve a flat picture before paying for geometry.
I hold back one point because jobs take minutes, which is normal for 3D but still a wait.
The status tool waits up to 300 seconds per check, and the plugin's 1,500-second timeout stops Hermes from giving up early.

Spend-Control Verdict: 9/10
The plugin marks Meshy's server untrusted, so Hermes asks before every create, download or cancel.
On builds after v0.22.5 you can allow once, for the session, or always, and each answer covers a single tool.
A 200-credit limit per chat sits on top, and crossing it always asks, even for tools set to Always.
The only reason it isn't a 10: removing the limit with spend_limit: 0 is one line, and the docs warn that unattended runs then have no cap.
Formats And Files Verdict: 9/10
A refined job yields GLB, FBX, OBJ with its .mtl and texture, STL and USDZ. A preview yields GLB only.
Downloading any of those costs no credits, because Meshy produced them all when it made the model.
Missing formats get a separate paid Convert action.
The catalog adds that downloads never overwrite an existing file, which is a thoughtful touch.
Points off for two traps: API assets normally expire after three days, and binary USDZ doesn't preview yet in Desktop.
In-Place Fixes Verdict: 8/10
Five post-processing tools mean most fixes never reach Blender: remesh, retexture, convert, resize and UV unwrap.
Retexture is handy for variants: one shape, several looks, without paying to rebuild the geometry each time.
Resize is the quiet star, because real-world size is what decides whether a print comes out right.
I'd score it higher if the docs said more about quality limits, but they stick to what each tool does.
Character And Animation Verdict: 8/10
Rigging, animation, text-to-motion and an animation library list cover the character path.
In Telegram, Discord or Slack, rigged and animated models arrive with a short preview video rendered on your machine.
That's a genuinely useful way to check motion from a phone.
One point off because the docs don't describe rig quality or which body types rig well, so expect to test a few characters before you trust it.
3D Print Prep Verdict: 9/10
Few AI 3D routes go this far toward a physical object.
The chain runs printability analysis, repair, multicolor 3MF, auto-split into printable parts and a send-to-slicer handoff, plus Creative Lab products.
Creative Lab waits through two stages of up to 600 seconds each, so give it time.
Pair that with the resize tool and a prompt like the README's "ready to print at 10 cm" and the model arrives already scaled for the bed.
It misses a 10 only because the slicer handoff depends on what's installed on your machine, which the local server detects.
Blender Clean-Up Verdict: 7/10
The Blender plugin is the right idea: Hermes opens Blender itself with --online-mode and talks to the add-on over loopback port 9876.
It needs Blender 5.1 or newer, which has no build for Intel Macs or Linux on ARM, plus Git and uv.
The README's verified scope is headless scene read, create, transform, readback and delete on Windows ARM64 and x64 with Blender 5.2.2 LTS.
Graphical screenshots aren't verified, and Blender Lab warns its tools run arbitrary Python with no protection against file deletion.
Useful, then, but keep it to a disposable scene. That's why it scores lowest with unattended runs.

Unattended Runs Verdict: 7/10
Cron, hermes chat -q and gateways with no approver can't answer prompts, so paid calls are refused there by default.
That's the correct default, and I'd never mark a tool down for safety.
I mark it down because turning it on means YOLO, Always answers or a config override, and the override replaces the plugin's whole entry, so you must repeat the timeout and trust lines yourself.
In chat apps the workflow is much smoother: "started, about N min", then the thumbnail as a photo and the model as a document.
My recommendation: allow the two or three tools a scheduled job really needs with Always, and leave the spend limit at a number you'd be happy to lose in one run.
Strengths And Limits At A Glance
Strengths:
- One chat covers concept, model, fixes, formats and print prep.
- Approvals and the per-chat cap are on by default.
- The gallery's "Made from" panel records prompt, seed, settings and credits.
- Only
MESHY_API_KEYreaches the Meshy server from your profile.
Limits:
- Assets expire after three days unless downloaded.
- Prompts, images and models go to Meshy's API.
- Blender's agent control is verified headless only.
- No hosted MCP endpoint, so it runs locally.
Who Should Use It, And Who Shouldn't
Use it if you make game props, product models, prototypes or prints often and want them from one chat.
Use it if you already run Hermes and want 3D without learning a modelling app.
Skip it if you need exact engineering geometry or must keep every file off third-party servers.
Skip it if you're on an Intel Mac and the Blender stage is essential to you.
Somewhere in between? Run it for drafts and concept models, then pass the best ones to a human for final polish.
That split plays to the workflow's strengths: speed and variety at the start, human judgement at the finish.
Keep an eye on the Hermes releases and docs, since approval behaviour already changed once after v0.22.5.
Final Verdict: 8.2/10
Getting a usable 3D model out of Hermes is now a real workflow, not a demo.
The scores cluster high because the docs are unusually precise about what each stage does and where it stops.
Generation, formats and print prep are top tier, and the spend guard rails are spelled out more clearly than anything else in the docs.
Blender clean-up and hands-off scheduling are the two stages to treat with care.
Neither is broken; both simply ask you to set rules before you let the agent loose on real projects.
Set those rules once and the rest of the chain runs from a single chat window.
Install it, keep the limit on, and download everything the same day. Then join the AI Profit Boardroom for the trainings that take it further.
